City manager, city secretary positions up for discussion.
The Port Aransas City Council has scheduled a special meeting for Monday, Feb. 4, to talk about signing an employment contract making Deputy City Manager Dave Parsons the town’s new city manager.
Also at the meeting, the council will consider ratifying a decision to hire Rockport City Secretary Irma Parker to be the next city secretary of Port Aransas.
Parsons, who is serving as interim city manager, made the decision to hire Parker to replace the retiring Esther Arzola.
But the city’s charter requires that the council ratify such a decision, to make it official. The meeting will be at 5 p.m. at council chambers, 710 W. Ave. A. The council is expected to go into executive session. State law allows councils to go into executive session when discussing personnel matters.
