Port Aransas and so goes the 15th Annual Texas SandFest, the largest master sand sculpture competition in the United States. year history, organizers said.
Texas SandFest 2014 was one of the best, if not the best one in the event’s 18-year history, organizers said.
Each year, more than 100,000 people view the work of more than 200 pro-am as well as masters solo and duo teams as they use 250 tons of sand to compete for prize winnings over the three-day festival. Free and open to the public, the sandy festivities began Friday, April 15 and concluded Sunday, April 17, 2014 in Port Aransas along beach markers 9 through 14 on Mustang Island along the glistening Gulf of Mexico waters. Growing bigger each and every year, the festival is a “Qualifying Contest for the World Championship of Sand Sculpture.” As a qualifying contest, Texas Sand Fest draws the best sculptures from America and the world with the winner automatically advancing to the World Championship.
In addition to sculpting competition, sand sculpting lessons, a photo contest, children’s activities, and live entertainment – there’s something for the whole family to enjoy. Its not to early to start your search for accommodations for your visit for next year.
