Why We Live on Mustang Island — And Why You Should, Too!

There are plenty of beautiful beach communities in the United States, but we think that Mustang Island beats them all. Our area is located just a few minutes from Corpus Christi, Texas on the Gulf of Mexico, so we are blessed with beautiful beaches and a charming coastal lifestyle. We want to share just a few of the reasons why we love living here.

Our Winters are Always Warm

When we say Mustang Island is a year-round destination, we mean it. All of our seasons are warm and sunny. But even during the coldest months of the year, the average temperature is 72 degrees.

Instead of having to shovel snow or bundle up, we can wear our flip-flops outside and enjoy the warm sunshine. Life doesn’t get much better than that!

The Scenery is Beautiful

Mustang Island is a tropical paradise hidden on the Gulf coast of Texas. Our area is home to numerous parks and preserves, harbors, and — of course — the beautiful Gulf of Mexico.

You’ll even find beautiful scenery within many of Mustang Island’s residential communities. Cinnamon Shore, for instance, is a community of homes and beautiful condominiums that features a grassy events lawn and boardwalks over the sand dunes.

There are Plenty of Outdoor Activities

Mustang Island is known for its tranquil parks, so it’s easy to find something fun to do. Mustang Island State Park has dozens of campsites, miles of coastline, a paddling trail, fun programs led by rangers, and plenty of places for a picnic. The Aransas Wildlife Refuge, located just a few miles away, offers fishing, kayaking, hiking, and seasonal hunting.

Living on Mustang Island, you can spend your days bird-watching, fishing, hiking, relaxing on the beach, swimming in the Gulf of Mexico, searching for sea shells, and biking. It’s perfect!

We Have Fun Events and Festivals

No vacation destination is complete without a full calendar of events. One of the most popular is the annual Whooping Crane Festival, which is packed full of birding tours and field trips, guest speakers, art exhibits, and a trade show.

In addition to the Whooping Crane Festival, Mustang Island hosts a beach dash, First Fridays at the Port Aransas Art Center, an Island Holiday Market, and the Texas SandFest.

We Have Easy Access to Corpus Christi

Mustang Island feels like hours away from the rest of the world, but it’s actually just a short drive from Corpus Christi. So if you’re eager for a bit of big-city fun and excitement, you don’t have to travel far!

There are All Kinds of Homes and Condos

Mustang Island features a number of desirable communities offering a range of amenities. Beachside Townhomes is a new community offering a resort-style pool and easy access to the beach, Palmilla Beach has a golf club and events lawn, and Sandpiper boasts tennis courts and an exercise facility.
